What is a Medium Duty Seaweed Barrier and who is for?
Enviro-USA’s Medium Duty Seaweed Barriers were designed to help sargassum continue to drift, while being redirected back out to sea, without causing it any harm. The idea was never to trap it, but to help it move along and our barriers do that.
Designed for beachfront resorts and hotels to keep their beaches clean and free of seaweed. Our Medium-Duty seaweed barriers provide 42” of protection and should be used in areas where there is light to medium winds, currents, and/or tide changes. It’s a good product for use in bays, ports, marinas, beaches, and/or when there are light to medium amounts of seaweed.
Enviro-USA’s Seaweed Barriers have been tested and have shown that they have the capacity to withstand tides up to 6 ft height, 9 mph currents (equivalent to almost 8 knots), and winds up to 25 mph.
Reduce sargassum by 85%
Our barriers can reduce the amount of sargassum that arrives to beaches and coastlines by 85%. In a recent study our barriers decreased the amount of dump trucks used to remove the seaweed (sargassum) from beaches and shores, from 20 to 3 truckloads.

- Skirt will not trap marine life nor prevent turtles from getting to the beach to lay their eggs.
