• Standard containment boom deployed on a waterway to control floating debris, oil, and surface pollutants.

Standard Containment Boom

Available Options

  • Calm Water Containment Boom
  • Protected Water Containment Boom
  • Open Water Containment Boom

Overview

Standard Containment Boom provides floating debris control for trash, plastic, leaves, branches, Styrofoam, aquatic plants, seaweed, and other common floating materials at waterfront, commercial, industrial, and environmental sites.

Marine-grade PVC construction, round polyethylene (PE) flotation, ballast chain, section connectors, and optional top tension cables provide a versatile boom system available in multiple heights for site-specific floating debris containment.

A standard containment boom is a floating barrier designed to control and contain oil, debris, floating pollutants, and other surface contaminants in calm to moderately moving water. The boom typically includes a flotation section that stays above the waterline and a weighted skirt that extends below the surface. Together, these components help prevent contaminants from spreading while allowing crews to collect, remove, or redirect the contained material.

Standard containment booms are commonly used for oil spill response, marina and harbor protection, industrial facilities, construction sites, waterways, lakes, ponds, rivers, and coastal applications. They can help isolate floating debris, contain accidental spills, protect sensitive shoreline areas, and establish controlled work zones on the water. Boom selection should be based on site conditions such as water depth, current, waves, wind, and the type of material being contained.

Choosing the right containment boom depends on the water conditions, required boom height and skirt depth, deployment duration, contaminant type, and anchoring requirements. Calm-water applications may require a lighter boom, while locations exposed to stronger currents, waves, or vessel traffic may need a more durable configuration. Evaluating site conditions and containment goals before deployment helps ensure the boom provides effective spill containment and floating pollution control.
